Mary, Queen of Scots was one of the most complex and fascinating women in history. She was the only woman to have been Queen of Scotland, England, and Ireland. She was also the only woman to have been imprisoned in the Tower of London. She was the great-great-granddaughter of King Malcolm III and the Great Mary of Bethany, the younger sister of King James V and the only woman to have ruled Scotland.

 

 

Mary, Queen of Scots, also known as Mary Stuart or Mary I of Scotland, was the last monarch of the House of Stuart, which ruled Scotland and the United Kingdom from 1371 to the union with England in 1707. She was born at Falkland Palace, in the county of Dumbarton, to King James V and his French wife, Mary of Guise. At the age of fifteen, she married the Duke of Orleans, son of the King of France and mother of the future King Louis XII. After the birth of her son, the Duke of Brittany, in 1541, her marriage was annulled in 1543.

 

 

Mary, Queen of Scots was the first monarch of the House of Stuart, which ruled Scotland and later the United Kingdom from 1371 to the present. She was the daughter of King James V of Scotland and his first wife, Mary of Guelders. She was born in Haddington, East Lothian, Scotland. Her father, the king, was the ruler of Scotland and defined the royal succession by blood right.

 

 

Mary, Queen of Scots was the first queen regnant of Scotland and the only woman to have reigned in Scotland. She was the queen consort of France and Navarre, the queen regnant of Scotland, and the first sovereign of the Kingdom of France. She was also the Sovereign Duchess of Brittany, Electress of Burgundy, and the one of Artois and Provence. She was the last monarch of the House of Valois, the dynasty to which she belonged.

 

 

Mary, Queen of Scots was a ruler of Scotland and one of the most powerful women in history. She was the first monarch of the House of Stuart. She was also the first woman in Europe to rule as an absolute monarch. Her reign  of 59 years was the longest of any female monarch
